I hate making phone calls but it seems like lately I’ve been doing that a lot. I guess that’s life.
I hear more and more people who hate making calls. I have no idea what’s the issue with the phone and why it can feel so difficult. I don’t mind answering the phone. I used to work as a receptionist and that was fine. But calling out. I hated that.
I got an invite to submit to an anthology. It doesn’t mean my story will sell but it forced me to think of plot ideas and I had a couple. One of which is now written. And I realized how fun it can be to write a short story when the plot works for me. It’s quick and easy and I had a good time. The story didn’t go where I wanted it to and I’m not sure that makes it suitable for the anthology, but I have another idea that I’m now excited about. We’ll see how that goes!
So it’s the end of another year, which seems surprising. I saw the meme going around about Bernie Sanders and his mittens at the inauguration and it reminded everyone that that had only been eleven months ago. It seems like forever. So although the year end rushed up at me, it has been a long year.
One of my goals next year will be to blog five days a week for the whole year. We’ll see how close I come. There are a few times when I know I’m going to miss but I figure if I keep close to it, I can count it. Then, maybe I can look back and see what I actually did accomplish.
I used to write my goals down on another blog that I’ve since taken down. Not for my name but as an acupuncturist. I always intended to blog about things of interest to me as an acupuncturist but I’d always end up just doing my New Year goals on it and maybe, if I was really good, one or two other posts during the year.
This last year I’d been thinking of porting the sites I manage over to a different host. I accidentally deleted that blog (though I have a backup) when I was looking at what I could get rid of. However, I decided to see if I’d feel I was missing something without it. I’m not so I left it off. Maybe that will help me blog on this one.
I used to love blogging. I blogged for years as my Siamese cat over at mysiamese.com. I kind of lost interest when there weren’t really any readers and my cat was never particularly popular amongst the large group of folks blogging about their cats. I had a few friends and they were on Facebook and I had created a page for the cats there. Now they’re just on Facebook and I post about them, sometimes, and share cat memes, more often.
Blogging for me was helpful to get me writing every day. And to learn to train my creative voice to say something. I’m not sure I was all that good at it but it was fun while it lasted. My cat, Chey, who was the focus of the blog is no longer with me, but I have plenty of photos of her that were shared with others on the blog.
